As recorded on "Penmanship" this Stan Bann original composition is written for solo trombone, four tenor trombones, two bass trombones, euphonium, tuba, piano, bass, and drums. "Morning, Beautiful" opens with unaccompanied trombone and moves palindromic-aly through reflective and animated settings before returning to it's ruminative roots for the ending.
"Fanfare and Chorale" is an original Stan Bann composition for four (4) trombones, two (2) bass trombones, euphonium, and tuba. Written for the Minneapolis Trombone Choir this horns only setting was premiered at the 2014 University of Minnesota Brass Symposium. There are two PDFs on containing the full score and the other the individual parts.
A bluesy, fun swing original by Stan Bann. The piece is a caricature of the college life in his Brookline apartment (notice the somewhat tipsy 5/4 break following the solos!). An audience pleasing romp suitable for any concert setting.
Scored for 4 tenor trombones, 1 bass trombone, euphonium, tuba, piano, bass, and drums.
"Williwaw" is a study in contrasts. From long, lyrical lines to punchy, rhythmic themes; from lush, warm harmonies to harsh rubbing dissonance. The warmth and power will challenge your musicians and engage your audiences!
Scored for six tenor trombones, two bass trombones, two euphoniums, and tuba.
The word solecism refers to acting inappropriately or impolitely. Throughout "Solecism" norms are established, then challenged, folded, spindled, and sometimes mutilated (e.g. a reflective, pastoral setting is interrupted by a fanfare).
Written for 4 tenor trombones, 2 bass trombones, euphonium, tuba, and timpani.
